Manchester City, Fulham vying for Ardon Jashari, City have advantage in chase

Manchester City and Fulham are both eyeing Club Brugge midfield sensation Ardon Jashari, with City holding an edge in the race.

According to Gazet van Antwerpen via Sport Witness, Manchester City and Fulham are both keen on signing Ardon Jashari, who has had an exceptional debut campaign at Club Brugge. Pep Guardiola’s team are believed to have a clear advantage over the Cottagers in their pursuit of the Swiss international.

After coming up the ranks at FC Luzern and making a name for himself while playing for their first team, he made the switch to the Belgian top flight last summer. The move has certainly worked out in his favour as he has won the Pro League Player of the Year and Nieuwsblad Talent of the Season awards in his debut campaign.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has been involved in a total of 52 matches across competitions and he even has 10 goal contributions. Ardon Jashari has been consistent throughout the season. His performances and massive potential have put him on the radar of Fulham and Manchester City, who are both looking to add more quality to their midfield.

Premier League clubs want to sign the Swiss sensation

Marco Silva wants more quality in his midfield and considers the Swiss international to be an ideal fit for their system. More importantly, Ardon Jashari could prove to be a great acquisition in the short as well as the long run.

Meanwhile, Manchester City want to freshen things up in their midfield. They are looking to add multiple players to their midfield, and Jashari is one of the names on their radar. Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic are all in the final phase of their careers. As a result, City want to ensure a smoother transition, and the 22-year-old can certainly help their cause.

While both English clubs are pushing for his signature, they will have to make a significant investment to sign him this summer. Back in January, the youngster penned a new deal which extended his stay until 2029. Club Brugge are in a very comfortable position with regards to his future and as per the report, they will only sanction a departure for a club record fee.

The current record is €37.5 million from Charles De Ketelaere’s 2022 move to AC Milan, and any deal for Ardon Jashari will need to surpass that. The player is enjoying life in Belgium, and he is not thinking about a transfer at this point. But a big enough offer from a top club could change things.

Manchester City do have a massive advantage in the race, as Jashari is not keen on joining a mid-table club and will only leave Club Brugge to join a top club. As a result, the Cottagers might have to look at other targets.
