Eberechi Eze still set for Crystal Palace exit despite FA Cup win

Eberechi Eze is expected to leave Crystal Palace despite the FA Cup win and subsequent Europa League qualification as big guns circle.

According to Football Insider, Eberechi Eze’s future looks away from Crystal Palace as the summer window approaches with the playmaker widely expected to leave the club. The recent success in the FA Cup and the subsequent Europa League qualification will have no bearing on the 26-year-old’s thinking ahead of the summer.

Crystal Palace fans have enjoyed a taste of glory following their team’s triumph in the FA Cup Final over Manchester City. To add to the win, the Eagles also qualified for next season’s Europa League, which will allow those supporters to witness continental football at Selhurst Park, although those successes could come at the cost of losing a few influential players.

As things stand, heading into the summer window, Crystal Palace are expected to consider offers for Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze. The former has been an influential force in the backline, while the latter has been part of everything good the club has done in the attacking third.

The FA Cup win and the subsequent Europa League qualification will not have any bearing on the future of the 26-year-old, as he seeks a new challenge away from Selhurst Park. The English international has an active £68 million release clause in his contract, which clubs like Tottenham are eager to explore in the summer.

The news of Eze’s possible departure will come as a boost for some of his suitors, and Crystal Palace will now expect a price close to that release clause. The FA Cup winner does have plenty of big clubs interested, like the aforementioned Tottenham, as well as Manchester City, who are in the race for the playmaker. His £68 million release clause makes him an appealing target.

Where will Eberechi Eze join?

Manchester City and Tottenham are one of the clearest possible destinations for Eze to consider, although there was interest from Manchester United in the playmaker. With doubts cast upon the future of Bruno Fernandes ahead of the summer, the £68m-rated FA Cup winner could be seen as an ideal replacement for the Portuguese star.

Either way, Eze will prioritise a club in the Champions League given Palace are in the Europa League for next season. With two years yet to run on in contract, Palace are in a mildly strong position to demand a significant sum close to his release clause, with Spurs and Man City, very much capable of matching that should they make a concrete approach for the England international.
