Tottenham set to sack Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank viewed as top target

Tottenham have repeatedly decided to sack Ange Postecoglou and view Thomas Frank as the top priority to replace the Australian.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Thomas Frank is Tottenham’s primary target for the managerial role, as they have reportedly decided to sack Ange Postecoglou. Marco Silva is also under consideration for the role, though it’s the Brentford boss seen as someone to take things ahead in north London.

Tottenham probably endured their most disappointing season in the Premier League, which saw them lose 21 games out of 38. Spurs finished 17th in the league, and had it not been for the abysmal form of the relegated sides, they might have been in the conversation for a season in the Championship.

The only major caveat to their season was ending a 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League, which also fulfilled their main objective of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Hence, the Tottenham hierarchy were undecided on Ange Postecoglou’s future, as the triumphant run in the Continental tournament seemed to have changed the thinking a bit.

Postecoglou was set for crunch talks with Tottenham over his future, and it appears, the club have made their decision to sack him rather than continue with the Australian. There are some candidates already being targetted by Spurs, with Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva among those on the list.

Silva has already signalled his intent to try something away from Fulham, with reports suggesting he has turned down a new deal at the club. However, the Portuguese gaffer might not be Tottenham’s ultimate choice, as Sacha Tavolieri insists Frank is their top target.

Tottenham keen to appoint Thomas Frank

Tottenham have already pondered triggering Frank’s release clause and get him on board. For the Brentford boss, it will be a great leap in his career, as his experience and know-how in the Premier League will be a big asset, while he could challenge himself with a run in the Champions League, something he’s not very familiar with.

Brentford are worried about losing Frank, as they will likely push with an attempt to keep the Premier League manager at the club. However, in Tottenham’s current state, both good and bad, Frank could see the right destination to further his career.
