Francesco Farioli top target to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Francesco Farioli is a strong contender to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham as the 36-year-old is available in the market.

According to Rudy Galetti, Francesco Farioli has been added to the list of contenders to replace Ange Postecoglou. The Italian has been highly regarded in the market, as Spurs consider him a strong name to replace the Australian who has been sacked despite winning the Europa League.

The euphoria from Tottenham’s Europa League victory has probably settled down in the boardroom, as the reality of Ange Postecoglou’s 22 league losses has sunk in. There have been considerable doubts about the Australian’s future, despite the manager stating that ‘season 3’ are always a hit during their trophy parade.

As things stand, Tottenham have confirmed the sacking of Postecoglou, something that was widely expected and will not spring up any surprises from the fan base. While there was an argument to be had, the Australian was responsible for ending Spurs’ highly-publicised 17-year trophy drought, as the club will now begin the process of finding a replacement.

Brentford’s Thomas Frank is high on the list, as reports stated that Daniel Levy has met the Dane on multiple occasions. He remains one of the favourites to take over from Postecoglou, as the list also includes other names such as Fulham’s Marco Silva, who might be open to the idea of managing Tottenham.

Tottenham have also considered in Francesco Farioli, the former OGC Nice and Ajax manager, who chose to leave the latter following the conclusion of the Eredivisie season. There were some disappointments in Amsterdam last season for how they lost the league title, and while he has his critics, the 36-year-old highly-rated manager is seen as one of the viable candidates for Spurs.

Will Tottenham appoint Francesco Farioli?

Farioli is seen as one of the modern-day coaches who has the potential to influence the game in a big way. He has already shown plenty of his talent at those two clubs, as Tottenham could potentially look to continue their squad build with the 36-year-old highly-rated manager in charge of the team.

Whether he is the right choice for their future remains the question, but appointing him will be seen as a risk and reward-strategy at best. The likes of Frank and Silva have plenty of pedigree in the Premier League, as some might suggest one of those two are the right fit, although there’s the idea of taking a big risk with Farioli, which could also prove a success.
