Manchester United expected to reach compromise for Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United and Brentford could soon reach a compromise on the fee for Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United are expected to complete the signing of Bryan Mbeumo in the coming weeks. They are in negotiations with Brentford and there is a significant gap in the valuation of both parties but according to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the Red Devils and the Bees are expected to reach a compromise over the fee of a potential move.

While speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I’m sure there’ll be a compromise met somewhere in the middle, probably, to get this deal done. Brentford, are reluctantly willing to let Mbeumo go.”

“Obviously, no deal has been agreed as yet, but United have made that first offer, which is a bit below Brentford’s valuation of the player, £45million plus £10m in add-ons.

“I think Brentford will be looking closer, probably to the £60m-£65m mark for Mbeumo. But yeah, look, there’s a willingness from Man United to get this deal done, and Mbeumo wants to move to United, so I still fully expect the move to go through.”

United have already signed Matheus Cunha and are now working hard to add Mbeumo to their squad as they look to reinforce Ruben Amorim’s attack ahead of next season. The 25-year-old was in fine form throughout the 2024/25 season as he contributed towards 29 goals (20 goals, 9 assists) in his 42 matches across competitions.

While his performances have attracted a lot of interest, United have been working very hard to beat the competition. Meanwhile, it has emerged that the Cameroonian favours moving to Old Trafford which has certainly helped their cause.

United will have to break the bank for Mbeumo

But signing him won’t be that straightforward as they will have to fork out a significant fee amidst their financial struggles. United’s initial offer for the 25-year-old was worth £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons which is much lower than Brentford’s valuation of around £60 to £65 million.

Despite the difference in valuation, the Red Devils remain keen on signing him. With the player also pushing to join them, O’Rourke believes both clubs could soon reach a compromise with regards to the final fee as talks continue. Brentford are reluctant to let him leave but they don’t have many options to play with because of his contract situation, as a result, they will eventually sanction his departure.

United will not only have to fork out a substantial transfer fee, but they will also need to offer him a significant salary. He is reportedly seeking a five-fold increase on his current wages, which would make him one of United’s top earners with a weekly salary of around £250,000.
