Everton face frustration in bid to sign Michael Cooper

Everton will unlikely sign 25-year-old English goalkeeper Michael Cooper from EFL Championship club Sheffield United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Michael Cooper is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their goalkeeping unit in the summer transfer window by signing a young stopper. So, the 25-year-old Sheffield United mainstay has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.

However, the Toffees face frustration in the bid to sign the English goalkeeper, as he wants to be an undisputed first-choice starter in the 2025/26 season. That may not be possible, with Jordan Pickford doing nothing to become a backup stopper, and Cooper may have to be his compatirot’s deputy. So, he will unlikely join Everton in the summer transfer window.

Michael Cooper has established himself as one of the best young goalkeepers in the EFL Championship since joining Sheffield United from Plymouth Argyle last summer. A native of Exeter, the Englishman spent his formative years in his homeland and grauadted from the youth division at Plymouth Argyle.

However, the 25-year-old has seen his stock soar during his spell with Sheffield United, and was impressive in his debut season with the EFL Championship club. Cooper kept 23 cleans in 46 appearances acrossl all competitions while conceding only 35 goals. Meanwhile, Cooper’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Everton.

Everton’s interest in Michael Cooper is understandable.
