Manchester United unperturbed in Bryan Mbeumo chase despite Tottenham links

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Cameroonian international Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Bryan Mbeumo is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Brentford talisman has emerged as the next top target for the struggling Premier League giants after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, the Red Devils face stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur, with the North London outfit mulling over hijacking the move. The Lilywhites recently held talks to sign the French-born winger, with the player “intrigued by Spurs”. However, the latest rumours do not faze Manchester United, and the Brentford attacker is “leaning towards United”.

Bryan Mbeumo and his Brentford exploits

Bryan Mbeumo has evolved into one of the best players in the Premier League since helping Brentford secure Premier League promotion several years ago. The 25-year-old has been an asset for the West London club due to his ability to reprise every role in the final third.

The Cameroonian international was exceptional in the 2024/25 season, contributing to 29 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 20 times and providing nine assists. Meanwhile, Mbeumo’s exploits have piqued the attention of several Premier League bigwigs, including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Manchester United’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo is understandable. The Red Devils are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile attacker. So, considering the Brentford star’s ability to play across the frontline, he has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.

As for Tottenham, the North London club recently entered the battle, aiming to steal a march on Manchester United for Mbeumo’s signature. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a wide attacker amid uncertainties surrounding Richarlison’s long-term future. So, the French-born winger is an option worth considering for Tottenham.

However, Tottenham’s links with Mbeumo do not trouble Manchester United, and Mbeumo is “still leaning towards” joining the Red Devils despite being “intrigued by Spurs”. However, with United yet to match Brentford’s asking price of over £60 million, an agreement is some way away.
