Napoli make move to sign Jadon Sancho, player does not want pay cut at next club

Napoli are keen on signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, although the player is refusing to take a pay cut ahead of the summer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Jadon Sancho is the latest name on Napoli’s radar as Antonio Conte continues to look for a new winger. The Serie A champions face a tall order in signing the attacker owing to issues about his salary as Sancho is refusing to take a pay cut.

Napoli have made a statement of intent by signing former Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne. They are now following that signing with some big links to other Premier League stars like Darwin Nunez and Alejandro Granacho.

The latter has been on their radar since January, but Garnacho reportedly wants to continue in the Premier League. Hence, Napoli have now pivoted to his Manchester United teammate and unwanted attacker Jadon Sancho, who will rejoin the Red Devils following a decent loan spell at Chelsea.

Chelsea had a purchase obligation in their loan deal with Manchester United. While the Blues showed an intent of sorts to sign him permanently, Jadon Sancho could not agree on personal terms with the West London side, which has resulted in Chelsea paying a modest penalty rumoured in the region of £5 million.

Sancho has some clubs interested, with Aston Villa one of those keen, but they too face a tall order in signing him owing to his wages. Manchester United will also demand a fee similar to the £25 million buy obligation Chelsea were prepared to pay. There was interest from Saudi side Al-Hilal, while Napoli are also keen now, as the Serie A champions could view him as an alternative to Garnacho.

Jadon Sancho refusing to take a pay cut

As per Give Me Sport, Sancho is unwilling to take a pay cut on his £300,000-a-week wages in his contract. The 25-year-old wantaway Manchester United flop will enter the final year of his deal and seemingly wants to stay on the high salary he currently draws.

This could be a major issue for a club like Napoli in their pursuit of the 25-year-old wantaway Manchester United flop. They will not sign off on paying massive wages, which could see the Red Devils struggle to offload Jadon Sancho in this window, as none of the interested clubs barring maybe a Saudi side will be eager to pay as much or even close.
