Tottenham best placed to sign Vanderson

Tottenham have seemingly moved in front of the queue for Monaco defender Vanderson as the north Londoners could table a bid shortly.

According to Sport via Sport Witness, Vanderson could consider a move to Tottenham as the North Londoners are potentially the only major club chasing his signature. Monaco are seeking around €35 million, which they expect Spurs to pay, as the likes of Barcelona are no longer in the running for the Brazilian.

Vanderson has shown he’s ready for one of the top-level teams as he seeks an exit from Monaco in the summer. The Brazilian full-back is not new to big links, as he was being chased by the likes of Tottenham among other teams last summer.

Monaco’s asking price then may have proved prohibitive for clubs to make a move, although the Brazilian’s assured performances last season have helped resurrect big interest. Monaco wants €35 million to sell the full-back, as the likes of Liverpool showed interest before although they are no longer in the chase following the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong.

Barcelona were the most interested club as per the latest reports, as the Catalans considered Vanderson as a viable option at left-back. The interest dates back a few months, although their thinking on the position has changed after the emergence of Eric Garcia as a right-back.

The injury to first-choice right-back Jules Kounde last season allowed Garcia to stake a claim. Now Barcelona are happy with the Spaniard, as they hope to agree a new deal for the versatile defender. Hence, they are no longer interested in Vanderson, which leaves Spurs with acres of space to get a deal done.

Tottenham front runners for Vanderson

Tottenham are now ready to make their move for Vanderson, with Monaco expecting an offer in the right amount to arrive. Spurs were seen as one of the front runners a while ago, and now they have plenty of room to negotiate with the French giants for the €35 million-rated Brazilian defender.

It remains to be seen whether Vanderson accepts a move to Spurs, as currently he may not have any other big suitors. The presence of Champions League football in north London will also prove crucial to attracting top talents, as the €35 million-rated Brazilian defender is certainly in the top bracket for right-backs at the moment.
