Florian Plattenberg has revealed that Bayer Leverkusen are in pole position to sign PSV attacker Malik Tillman. The 23-year-old American is under contract with the Eredivisie side until 2028 but Leverkusen are willing to meet the release clause in his contract. Tillman is currently playing in the Gold Cup for the USMNT but his current club and the Bundesliga side are currently having conversations regarding a transfer.
Tillman came through the Bayern Munich system but only made seven first team appearances for the side. After a successful loan spell with Rangers during the 2022/2023 season he was signed by PSV (following another loan spell). Last season he was a key player once again for the side as they won the Eredivisie title. In 34 games for the side he scored 16 goals and grabbed five assists.
Tillman has been reported to have a release clause of around €40m, plenty for the Eindhoven side to be able to use to reinvest in the squad going into next season.
