Milan Zeroing In On Two Options to Shore Up Midfield

Milan have identified Granit Xhaka and Javi Guerra as the next two pieces to bolster their midfield after securing Luka Modric. They have come to terms with the former on a three-year contract with €4M wages, Calciomercato relays.

They now need to convince Bayer Leverkusen, which have already lost a lot of mainstays. Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong have joined Liverpool, while Jonathan Tah signed with Bayern Munich as a free agent. The initial €10M offer isn’t enough. He has notched 2 goals and 7 assists in 33 Bundesliga tilts in 2024/2025.

Milan will need to up their bids to snap up Xhaka and Guerra. Per Alfredo Pedullà, a €15M proposal could convince Die Aspirin. The Rossoneri no longer have reservations about adding veterans with Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri at the helm now.

As for the Valencia man, the Serie A side tendered €16M plus €4M add-ons, but it was insufficient, Sky informs. They will try again in the coming days. He has scored 3 goals and provided 3 helpers in 36 La Liga fixtures last season. He has been a regular for the first team for the past 2 campaigns and has 20 caps with Spain U-21.

Our Take on Milan Eyeing Xhaka and Guerra

They weren’t going to find an outright Tijjani Reijnders replacement without spending an overly large amount of money on one man, which they have always been reluctant to do, so onboarding a few solid options to mitigate the blow is the right strategy. They’ll have a nice mix if they land both planes. Unless Allegri somehow revitalized Ruben Loftus-Cheek, they could also use a potent offensive weapon from the box-to-box role, preferably on the younger side.
