Bayer Leverkusen have reached a total agreement to sign PSV Malik Tillman, according to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Bundesliga runners-up have offered a Tillman a contract until 2030, which was agreed last month with only the fee with PSV left to negotiate. The stumbling block here was that Bayern Munich retained a buy-back clause in the player’s contract, but that deadline has now passed which has paved the way for Bayer Leverkusen to sign Tillman for €35m.
Tillman is currently on international duty with the USMNT at the Gold Cup, but a medical will take place once his participation in the tournament comes to an end. The 23-year-old, who was born in Germany but holds American citizenship, scored 12 goals and provided two assists as Peter Bosz’ PSV pipped Ajax to the Eredivisie title.
Following the departure of Florian Wirtz to Liverpool for a club record fee, Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes often said that they won’t sign an out-and-out replacement for their former star. Die Werkself have already signed Ibrahim Maza from Hertha Berlin for €12m, with Tillman set to become the latest addition to the squad.
