Barcelona confident of sealing deal to sign Luis Diaz after Nico Williams snub

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing 28-year-old Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz during the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona are optimistic about signing Luis Diaz after missing out on Nico Williams. The Blaugrana wanted to sign the Athletic Club winger earlier in the window but have not managed to get the deal done so far.

In addition, with the Spanish international signing a new contract with the Basque outfit, it seems they are now prepared to turn their attention toward the Liverpool attacker. Barcelona are also mulling over pursuing Marcus Rashford’s signature in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Luiz Diaz was outstanding for Liverpool last season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions. He could prove to be an excellent addition for Barcelona. The Spanish outfit need a dynamic attacker like him, capable of slotting into multiple attacking roles.

The Colombian international will help them improve going forward. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree on a deal. Liverpool will not want to lose a key player like Luis Diaz, but the South American is likely to be tempted.

Diaz could be tempted

Barcelona are among the biggest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to join them will be hard for the player to turn down. South American players tend to prefer a move to Spain, and this could be the right time in his career to try a new challenge. Luis Diaz has proven himself in English football and has won major trophies with Liverpool, including the league title last season.

The 28-year-old will look to push for more trophies with Barcelona if the move goes through. It remains to be seen whether the Spanish outfit can convince Liverpool to sell the player. The Blaugrana are going through financial difficulties and are unlikely to be able to pay a premium. Liverpool may have to be reasonable with their demands to make the move possible.

Barcelona managed to win the league title last season, and they will look to win the UEFA Champions League next. The Blaugrana need more quality in the final third to win the European competition. The Colombian international could add some much-needed unpredictability to the side.
