Juventus ramp up efforts to sign Jadon Sancho

Juventus will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old English international Jadon Sancho from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Jadon Sancho is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a versatile playmaker in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Manchester United flop has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri.

The Serie A giants have turned their attention towards the Englishman after completing the Bosman move for Jonathan David. However, Sancho’s €10 million-a-year wages are a problem for Juventus, even though they are “intensifying contacts” with the Manchester United outcast. Meanwhile, a swap deal involving Douglas Luiz may be on the cards.

Jadon Sancho and a dreadful move

Jadon Sancho has hit a brick wall at Old Trafford since joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021. While the 25-year-old showed a few flashes of brilliance, he was mostly inconsistent and sealed his fate at the club after a bust-up with Erik ten Hag two years ago. So, he has spent the last 18 months away from Manchester United, turning out for Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

The English international was not impressive enough to convince Chelsea to seal a permanent deal this summer. Sancho managed only five goals and ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, and he has returned to Manchester United. Meanwhile, his stock in the market remains high, with Juventus among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Serie A move on the horizon?

Juventus’s interest in Jadon Sancho makes sense. The Serie A giants are combing the market for a versatile attacker this summer as they look to return to the summit of Italian football. They have already bolstered their offensive unit by signing Jonathan David, and the Manchester United flop has emerged as a viable target for the Bianconeri.

With the 25-year-old Englishman keen on joining a club that will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, Juventus’s prospects of securing his services are bright. However, while the Serie A giants are “intensifying contacts” with Sancho, his €10 million-a-year wages pose an issue for them.

So, Juventus may offer Douglas Luiz in a swap deal involving Sancho, although it is unclear if Manchester United will accept that proposal. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that the English playmaker is ready to take a pay cut to join the Bianconeri. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Sancho.
