According to a report by TEAMtalk, Takefusa Kubo is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the Real Sociedad winger has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit. Meanwhile, La Real will demand around £30 million to part ways with the Japanese international.
Takefusa Kubo has endured a topsy-turvy ride since returning to Spain half a dozen years ago. The Kawasaki native spent most of his formative years in his homeland, but he was also part of Barcelona’s fabled La Masia setup for some time.
The 24-year-old returned to Spain in July 2019, with Real Madrid signing him from FC Tokyo. However, Kubo could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Los Blancos sending him on multiple loan spells before Real Sociedad secured his services nearly three years ago.
While the Japanese international has not been highly productive, he has shown flashes of his potential. Kubo has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Real Sociedad while chipping in with 23 goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, the former Real Madrid winger’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Everton.
Everton’s interest in Takefusa Kubo is understandable. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window. While Everton will soon sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal to fill Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s void, the Merseyside outfit will also dip into the market for a wide attacker.
Everton did not complete permanent deals for Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom after their loan deals expired, compelling them to seek a new winger. So, several candidates, including Omari Hutchinson, have emerged on the Merseyside club’s radar, with Kubo also a viable target.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad will demand around £30 million to part ways with the 24-year-old Japanese international. La Real’s asking price makes him an appealing target for Everton, and the Toffees should have the funds to fork out £30 million to sign the former Real Madrid winger. However, it is unclear if Kubo is Everton’s top winger target this summer.
