According to a report from Tutto Mercato Web, Douglas Luiz appears to be in the final weeks of his stint in Turin, with Juventus keen on offloading him this summer. The Old Lady are looking to cash in, but while former club Aston Villa are interested in bringing him back, they are currently only exploring a loan deal.
Luiz made a name for himself while playing for Aston Villa. His impressive performances attracted a lot of interest, and Unai Emery’s team decided to cash in on him last summer because of their ongoing financial crisis. The West Midlands outfit ended up selling him to Juventus for a significant fee.
While the transfer did benefit Aston Villa, things did not quite go to plan for either Juventus or Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian midfielder struggled to cement his place in the first team, partly due to injury setbacks. The 27-year-old managed just 877 minutes of first-team action throughout the 2024/25 season.
The lack of game time has not pleased the Brazilian international. Douglas Luiz is keen on parting ways with the club and returning to the Premier League, and Juventus are also ready to sell him just 12 months after signing him from Villa. Despite his struggles at the Turin-based club, multiple top clubs are interested in his services.
The Serie A giants were in talks with Manchester United regarding a potential swap deal involving Luiz. The Bianconeri are keen on signing Jadon Sancho to bolster their attack and were ready to send the 27-year-old the other way. However, the Manchester United management has not showcased much interest in such a deal.
As a result, the Brazilian midfielder’s future remains up in the air. His former club, Aston Villa, are ready to re-sign him. The Villans are well aware of his abilities and feel he could revive himself under Emery if he returns to Villa Park.
However, the Premier League outfit are only interested in a loan deal, which certainly does not meet Juventus’s demands. The Old Lady are desperately looking to cash in on him, as it will help them with other potential transfers. They will only evaluate offers that help them recover a part of what they had invested to bring him to the club.
