Christopher Nkunku wants Bayern Munich move this summer

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in signing 27-year-old French international Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by German outlet Sport Bild, Christopher Nkunku is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a central attacker in the summer transfer window after losing Jamal Musiala to a long-term injury. So, the 27-year-old Chelsea forward has emerged as a target for the Bavarian outfit.

Bayern Munich will face stiff competition from Barcelona for the Frenchman’s signature, although Chelsea recently failed with a bid to sign Fermin Lopez in a swap deal involving him. However, Nkunku is keen on joining the German giants in the summer transfer window.

Christopher Nkunku and his unfortunate Chelsea spell

Christopher Nkunku has seen his stock plummet since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig in a hyped move in July 2023. The 27-year-old was among the most productive attackers in the world when the West London club secured his services. However, fitness issues have blighted him in the last two years.

The French international has managed only 2,830 minutes of game time across 61 appearances thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with 18 goals and five assists. However, Nkunku’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

Bayern Munich mulled over signing Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea in the winter transfer window before a deal failed to see the light of day. The continued interest is understandable, considering Jamal Musiala has picked up a long-term injury during the FIFA Club World Cup. So, the Chelsea attacker has emerged as a viable target for Bayern Munich.

Interestingly, Barcelona playmaker Fermin Lopez is also a target for Bayern Munich. The Spanish international is also on Chelsea’s wishlist, with the West London club attempting to secure his services in a swap deal involving Nkunku. While Barcelona rejected an exchange proposal, they are keen on signing the 27-year-old Frenchman.

However, Nkunku is keen on joining Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, thus dealing a blow to Barcelona. So, it will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana can turn the French attacker’s head amid his desire to move to the Allianz Arena.
