The Hamburger Morgenpost reports that FC St. Pauli have wrapped up a deal to sign Arminia Bielefeld fullback Louis Oppie. The 23-year-old will make the leap from the 3. Liga to the Bundesliga for a base-transfer-fee of €2m with another €1m in bonuses attached. In Oppie, St. Pauli have found their preferred replacement for the departed Philipp Treu.

Oppie played a key role in both Bielefeld’s promotion to the 2. Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal Final last year. The Berlin-native scored three goals and contributed nine assists in 37 league appearances while netting two goals. He registered one assist in six matches during the domestic cup run.

Oppie – who trained in the Hertha BSC and Hertha Zehlendorf academies before moving to Hannover 96 in 2021 – joined Bielefeld in July 2023 on a free transfer. Overall, he’s made 71 3. Liga appearances and scored eight goals for the Teutoburgs.

Florian Plettenberg also presently confirms the Mopo report.
