Borussia Mönchengladbach set to lose emerging talent to Galatasaray

According to a report from Bild, Galatasaray are set to sign Can Armando Güner (17) from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The Bundesliga side were interested in signing the attacker down to a new contract beyond 2026, but Güner felt as though Galatasaray showed more desire in securing his services, while there is also prospect of a gateway into the first team, much sooner than he potentially would at Gladbach.

German-born Güner is also eligible to represent both Turkey and Argentina. The 17-year-old featured in Diego Placente’s Argentine squad for the U17 World Cup last year, and it’s since then that Galatasaray had shown an interest in the teenager.

“I feel honoured when other associations show interest,” Güner told Kicker. “Argentina is making a great effort, and it’s something special when the world champions show interest in inviting me.”

Güner’s pending arrival at the Turkish champions should bank Gladbach around €1m, according to Bild, who notes that the player’s flight to Istanbul departs on Thursday morning.
