Krépin Diatta (26) was one of the standout performers of the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which his nation, Senegal, won.
However, the versatile Senegal international, capable of playing on the wing or at full-back, continues to play a bit-part role at club level. He has made just 13 appearances for AS Monaco in all competitions this season, and he is facing an uncertain situation, with his contract up at the end of the season.
Speaking at a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, revealed that there are not yet any talks regarding an extension to his current deal. “We are not talking about an extension at the moment. We are very focused on the club’s situation,” began Scuro.
He continued, “We hope that he will have more of an impact and more minutes on the pitch. After that, we will decide together. It isn’t just a club decision. It is also the player’s choice. At the right time, we will talk.”
Due to his contract situation, Diatta is currently permitted to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club.
