Newcastle United not planning Eddie Howe sacking

Newcastle United reportedly have no intentions of parting ways with Eddie Howe despite their recent struggles.

Newcastle United have been far from their best this season. Eddie Howe’s men are in the bottom half of the Premier League, and their performances in other cup competitions have not been that great either. Amidst their struggles, there has been a lot of talk about Howe’s future at the club.

However, according to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle United’s stance on his future is quite firm. The Magpies have no intentions of sacking him anytime soon. The 48-year-old manager has a lot of credit in the bank at St. James’ Park, and a dip in form isn’t enough for them to pull the plug on him.

Eddie Howe took charge of Newcastle United towards the end of 2021 following their PIF-backed takeover. He has lifted them from mid-table obscurity to Champions League contention. While he has done wonders for Newcastle, guided them to European football twice in recent years, the ongoing season hasn’t gone as planned.

The Alexander Isak saga and injuries to key players have played a part in their struggles. But given the strength of their squad as a whole, the Magpies are still expected to be in and around the top six.

Amidst a poor stretch of form, the Tyneside outfit are now 12th in the league with only 33 points in their 25 outings. The defeat to Brentford at home on Saturday did not go down well with the fans. There was unrest from the home supporters after the full-time whistle, and the pressure is certainly increasing on Howe.

Why won’t Newcastle United sack Howe?

Newcastle United won’t be rushing into any decision regarding Howe’s future. They are desperate to avoid making a knee-jerk reaction. The board are still looking to back their manager, as they feel injuries to key players during a crucial run of fixtures have cost them.

Fabian Schar, Tino Livramento, Joelinton, Lewis Miley and Anthony Gordon were all unavailable in their recent defeat. Yoane Wissa and Sven Botman were both out injured for a lengthy period. Given how important all of them are in Eddie Howe’s setup, Newcastle’s struggles are understandable.

As a result, the club are not even thinking about parting ways with Howe. The board rates him quite highly, and they are confident that he will turn things around.
