Dean Henderson unlikely to push for Crystal Palace exit amid Tottenham links

Dean Henderson is not expected to push to leave Crystal Palace in the summer amid links with Tottenham to replace Guglielmo Vicario.

According to Football Insider, Dean Henderson is unlikely to push for an exit from Crystal Palace ahead of the summer. Tottenham are reportedly interested in the 28-year-old Premier League captain as they seek a change from Guglielmo Vicario.

Tottenham finds itself in a precarious position regarding its league standing and what lies ahead. Relegation is a real threat facing the north Londoners, and they are also anticipating a mass exodus of departures should they go down.

Irrespective of whether they play in the Premier League or the Championship next season, Spurs are intent on changing the guard between the sticks. Guglielmo Vicario has interest from Inter Milan and Juventus, with the Italian likely to leave Spurs after an underwhelming spell.

Spurs are looking at various options in the market, including Sunderland’s Robin Roefs, while Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen is also being linked. They have added Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson to that shortlist, with the England international showing plenty of poise with his displays at Selhurst Park.

Henderson is also vying for a place in the England squad for the World Cup and is currently one of the favourites to feature as Jordan Pickford’s deputy at the tournament. The former Manchester United star was instrumental in Palace’s FA Cup triumph last season, saving a penalty from Omar Marmoush as he held on to keep a clean sheet.

Dean Henderson to leave Crystal Palace?

Palace are currently in a bit of turmoil with regard to their managerial situation, among other issues. However, Henderson is not expected to push for an exit, while the club have no interest in selling the 28-year-old Premier League captain in the summer.

Henderson enjoys a prominent role at Palace and is likely to favour familiarity and regular game time instead of swapping his shirt for another team. While he is reportedly not pushing to leave the club, Tottenham may still be expected to enquire or even make an approach, although Palace may ward them off by either ruling out a sale or demanding a top-notch transfer fee.
