Predicted Liverpool lineup against Wolverhampton Wanderers: Wirtz misses out again; Frimpong in contention

Jeremie Frimpong will be in contention to feature for Liverpool when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Tuesday.

Liverpool will aim to return to the top four in the Premier League table when they lock horns with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Tuesday night. Arne Slot has no new injury concerns to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Florian Wirtz remains in the treatment room due to a lower back injury, and he is unavailable for both games against Wolverhampton Wanderers this week. Additionally, Giovanni Leoni (knee), Conor Bradley (knee), Wataru Endo (ankle), and Alexander Isak (fracture) are still unavailable.

Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Slot provided a fitness update on Wirtz, ruling him out for the two games against Wolverhampton Wanderers this week. The Dutch tactician also discussed Jeremie Frimpong’s progress after recovering from his latest fitness issue.

The Liverpool head coach said, “The game tomorrow will probably come too soon and maybe the game at the weekend as well. Let’s see how that ends up. But we hope to have him back somewhere next week. Maybe earlier. Maybe a bit later. But that timescale.”

“Having Jeremie back is really nice but what you are saying [managing his minutes] does go through your mind. Because of the fact we play three games in seven days. Because we play Galatasaray [at Anfield] and have the early kick-off afterwards in Brighton. Those things you all have to take into account, especially with players who come back from injuries.”

“But we also know the importance of every single game. That is a challenge the performance staff, the player himself, the manager has. But I’m not the only one who has that. I prefer to have this problem – to manage how many minutes I have to give him – than to see him with the medical staff doing his recovery.”

Alisson Becker is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday. The backline will feature Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Milos Kerkez.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai in the double pivot, with Alexis Mac Allister reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Hugo Ekitike will lead the line for the away side against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo being the two wide attackers.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Gomez, Konate, van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Mac Allister, Gakpo; Ekitike
