Sport Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck is once again attracting interest from the Premier League.
Last week, it looked like the 26-year-old was going to extend his contract at the club, and the prolonged contract saga would be over. However, following Germany’s 2-1 win against Ghana, Schlotterbeck came out and said nothing had been agreed yet.
There are now potential reasons that the central defender has delayed signing a potential extension. One of those reasons is that he wishes to renegotiate the salary and release clause with the new sporting director, Nils-Ole Book.
Another reason behind this is that the defender is attracting interest again from the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester United have renewed their interest in Schlotterbeck. As time goes on without an extension, Dortmund’s hand becomes weaker when trying to tie down the 26-year-old for longer.
It is suggested that the defender could be looking to leave the club after the World Cup.
