Why Benfica’s Richard Rios can end up in Serie A soon

Richard Rios was among the most talked about players last year and at one point, he was also linked with a move to Serie A. Roma were keen before Benfica roped the midfielder in.

Get Italian Football News have covered Napoli’s interest in the player this week, as the Partenopei have tried to lay down the foundations a summer move.

There are now increasing signs that a move to Serie A could indeed be on the cards for the Colombian.

AreaNapoli take a deep look at his situation, making it clear that intermediary Bruno Carvalho is key behind this. He has an excellent relationship with Napoli, having previously tried to negotiate a move for Florentino Luis before the midfielder ended up at Burnley.

There has been contact between Napoli and Carvalho and there is an indication that even Juventus could be in the fray for Rios in the future.

Interest from Inter has also been reported about in recent weeks, which makes the possibility of a move to Serie A very much possible.

At the same time, AreaNapoli believe that Premier League clubs are also keeping an eye on the 25-year-old. They could be appealed by Benfica’s price-tag, which stands at around €30m to €35m despite the presence of a lofty release clause worth €100m.

Ideally, Jose Mourinho wouldn’t be too keen on Rios’ exit but Benfica have a chance at recording a profit, having signed him for around €27m last year.
