For the second season in a row, Serie A giants Napoli are facing the possibility of losing Antonio Conte. Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is seen as the favourite candidate to replace his compatriot.
Not too long ago, Fiorentina had attempted an unlikely move for Maresca. Fabio Paratici was the main man behind the contact, even if La Viola are doing fairly well under Paolo Vanoli.
Now, Napoli’s interest is quickly emerging. Tuttomercatoweb report that Napoli feel Maresca will be able to keep the squad’s level high after Conte’s departure.
It appears as though the ex-Tottenham manager would be keen on a move back to Italy, if FIGC approach him. This would leave Napoli without a manager and they don’t want to be caught without options.
Along with Maresca, Raffaele Palladino and Vincenzo Italiano are also on the shortlist. The ex-Blues boss remains the favourite, even if Manchester City remain keen on hiring him as a potential replacement for Pep Guardiola in the summer.
Importantly enough, all this is probably Napoli’s own view around Maresca. The situation could actually be vastly different from his own perspective.
