Gabriel Jesus hints at Arsenal departure

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has not been a regular starter for the London club since returning from his injury, and he could be on the move in the summer. A return to his former club Palmeiras could be on the cards.

The player has now fuelled further speculation about his future by claiming he has had a chat with the manager of the Brazilian club, and that he wants to return to his boyhood club one day. Jesus is still very much at the peak of his career, and he needs to play regularly. At Arsenal, he will be behind Viktor Gyokeres in the pecking order. It makes sense for him to try out a new challenge in the summer. He has played just 320 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Jesus has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

Gabriel Jesus opens up on his future

Jesus revealed to : “My main focus today is still Arsenal, to make things happen here, to help in the way the coach needs. Then, obviously, when the season ends, we start to think”, he said.

“My desire is to return to Palmeiras one day and win more titles. I’ve already felt what it’s like to win there. That’s still in me, it’s a very strong desire.”

“I had the opportunity to talk with him (Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira) for more than an hour, two or three times when I went to train at Palmeiras. We always spoke well, about football and life.”

Palmeiras return could be ideal for Jesus

Palmeiras will certainly be attracted to the idea of bringing him back. He is a top-class player who could transform them in the attack. Jesus is capable of operating anywhere across the front three, and he is more than just a goal scorer. He will add creativity in the final third as well. In addition, his experience and leadership skills could prove invaluable to Palmeiras.

The 29-year-old striker has 31 goals and 22 assists in 115 matches for Arsenal. He scored 95 goals and picked up 45 assists during his time at Manchester City as well. Before his move to England, he was a success at Palmeiras, scoring 28 goals and picking up eight assists in 83 matches.
