Ligue 1 McDonald’s, Matchday 32, 02/05/2026
Paris Saint-Germain were held to a draw by FC Lorient (2-2) for the second time this season. Still top of the league, Luis Enrique’s side missed the chance to extend their lead over RC Lens.
Despite a heavily reshuffled squad, the Parisians got off to a flying start, opening the scoring in the 6th minute through Ibrahim Mbaye. The setback did little to unsettle Lorient, who capitalised on the Rouge et Bleu’s defensive lapses to quickly equalise through Pablo Pagis, who has been on the scoresheet for the seventh time in the last 10 matches.
Although they were subsequently dominated, the Merlus nevertheless managed to withstand their opponents’ attacks, which, like those of Désiré Doué and Bardley Barcola, lacked precision in the final moment. And when the Parisians finally managed to get their attempts on target, it was Yvon Mvogo, the Lorient goalkeeper, who stepped in to deny them.
Albeit aware that they had struggled to impose their rhythm in the first half, Luis Enrique’s men nevertheless began the second half in much the same vein. This was enough to rile the Spanish coach, who made a few changes just after the hour mark. Fabián Ruiz, possibly being rested for Wednesday’s trip to Munich, and Ibrahim Mbaye were replaced by João Neves and Warren Zaïre-Emery.
It proved to be a winning tactical move, as the latter, with his first touch of the ball, restored PSG’s lead with a powerful strike that caught Mvogo off guard.
In control and clearly a cut above the Lorient side, the Parisians were nevertheless caught off guard when a back-pass by the young Pierre Mounguengue was intercepted by Aiyegun Tosin, who, after shaking off Pacho, managed to beat Marin to allow Lorient to equalise once again.
Having been quiet up to that point, the Merlus then stepped up a gear. And it took a fine save from Marin to deny Tosin a quick-fire brace. Eager to snatch victory, the Parisians saw Mayulu’s effort hit the post and a penalty (rightly) denied in the dying seconds of the match.
Having been held to a draw, PSG could see RC Lens close the gap to four points should they beat OGC Nice tonight.
Renato Marin, 4
The young goalkeeper would certainly have hoped to keep a clean sheet on his Ligue 1 debut, but conceded twice. However, his save from Tosin ensured that Paris did not find themselves trailing late in the game.
Senny Mayulu, 5
Lucas Beraldo, 4
Willian Pacho, 4
Lucas Hernández, 5
Lee Kang-in, 4
Fabián Ruiz, 5
After coming on as a substitute twice, Ruiz has been finding his rhythm and has looked assured. With his passing play looking very sharp, the Spaniard could be in line for a starting place against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Dro Fernández, 4
Ibrahim Mbaye, 6
Désiré Doué, 7
Starting in the false nine role, Doué was Paris’s most impressive attacking player. Although he occasionally lost sight of his teammates, he once again proved decisive and came very close to scoring a stunning solo goal.
Bradley Barcola, 6
Panos Katseris, 6
Pablo Pagis, 7
Once again proving decisive, Lorient’s attacking midfielder proved valuable in organizing his team’s play.
Noah Cadiou, 3
