Askou, in his first season in Scottish football, led Motherwell to a fourth-place finish in the league. His results with the club had also attracted interest from eventual champions Celtic. Olivier Cloarec, the president of Toulouse, said earlier this week that he wished to name Martínez Novell’s successor before the opening of the summer transfer window.
