Anthony Gordon completed his move from Newcastle United to Barcelona on Friday. The Premier League side are therefore in the market for a replacement for the England international, and according to a report from I Paper, they may turn to Ligue 1.
The publication understands that Lille OSC’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo is a target for the Tyneside club. However, the forward is attracting high-level interest from elsewhere. He is of interest to Manchester United and Manchester City, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.
There is also interest in Olympique Lyonnais’ Malick Fofana, who has just endured an injury-hit season. As well as both featuring on Newcastle United’s shortlist, Fofana and Fernandez-Pardo will be competing for a place in the Belgium starting XI at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
They are two of four names on Newcastle’s shortlist. Ez Abde (Real Betis), who has a £51m release clause, is also on the list, as is Victor Munoz (Osasuna).
