Lille OSC are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with NEC Nijmegen over the transfer of Başar Önal (22), according to L’Équipe. A deal worth €9.5m, plus potential bonuses, is said to be in the pipeline.
Signed from De Graaschap for €1m in the summer of 2024, the 22-year-old winger quickly established himself as a key player in the Dutch league. Having become an indispensable part of Dick Shreuder’s side, Önal started 29 of the 34 matches he played last season, finding the net nine times and providing nine assists across all competitions.
These performances have not gone unnoticed for the Doetinchem-born player, who played a key role in his club’s third-place finish in the Eredivisie standings; he remains under contract with the club until 2028, at the end of the 2025-26 season. A Turkish Under-21 international (eight caps, one goal), Önal now appears ready to take his young career to the next level.
