According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Kevin De Bruyne is not the subject of interest from Liverpool. While the Reds are scouring the market for an offensive reinforcement heading into the summer transfer window, they will not launch the offensive to sign the long-serving Manchester City playmaker.
Kevin De Bruyne has been one of the best players in the Premier League for a decade, going from strength to strength since joining Manchester City from VfL Wolfsburg in August 2015. The former Chelsea playmaker hit the ground running at the Etihad and has never slipped up whenever he has been fit and available.
However, the last few seasons have been injury-riddled for the 33-year-old playmaker, who has been in and out of action due to persistent fitness issues. That has also been the case this term, although De Bruyne has maintained high performance levels. He has contributed to 14 goals in only 2,137 minutes of game time across 36 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net six times and providing eight assists.
However, De Bruyne’s long and illustrious spell with Manchester City will end in the summer transfer window, as he will be a free agent after his contract expires. With the two parties deciding against continuing their association, the Belgian international will embark on a new adventure ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Recent reports have linked Kevin De Bruyne with a shock move to Liverpool. The Merseyside club can do with an injection of creativity heading into the 2025/26 season as they prepare for life after Trent Alexander-Arnold, pursuing the Manchester City playmaker would have been surprising.
The latest report has quashed the recent links with De Bruyne, suggesting the Reds have no interest in the player, nor have they submitted an offer to him. In addition, the veteran playmaker’s wages would have posed a problem, considering his age profile.
While De Bruyne is reportedly open to joining another Premier League club by taking a pay cut, he will not move to Liverpool. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the 33-year-old Belgian international.
