West Ham United formulating offer to sign Valentin Castellanos, Everton also keen

West Ham United are keen on Lazio striker Valentin Castellanos ahead of the summer, and Everton are ready to compete for the Argentine.

According to Caught Offside, Valentin Castellanos could be the subject of big interest from Premier League clubs ahead of the summer. West Ham United are reportedly formulating an offer to bring the Argentine to England from Lazio, while Everton are also keen to land the Serie A star.

The striker market is very much narrow, as clubs will want to get a deal done early for their targets. One of the latest names to emerge in a rather shallow pool is that of Valentin Castellanos, who has excelled this season with Lazio in Serie A.

The Argentine has contributed to 22 goals across all competitions, which is seen favourably by a few teams in England. Wolves are one of those reportedly interested as they seek a replacement for Matheus Cunha, who is on the verge of a departure as Manchester United are the favourites to land him.

The bigger interest comes from the likes of West Ham United, who are in the market for a new striker. The Hammers are already linked to several names, although they are set to be beaten in the pursuit of Jonathan David. Graham Potter continues to search for a viable replacement for the ineffective Niclas Fullkrug despite the German only joining last summer.

The Hammers are reportedly formulating an offer to sign Castellanos from Lazio, with the Serie A club demanding at least €30-35 million from suitors. The attacker has been compared to Didier Drogba for his physicality and playing style, which will seem like a perfect signing for the likes of West Ham.

Everton competing with West Ham for Valentin Castellanos

West Ham are not alone in the race, as Everton are also keen on the striker. David Moyes will lead the Blues into the new stadium after the Toffees played their final ever game at Goodison Park, and he might do so without key striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who could leave once his contract expires in the summer.

Hence, the Toffees have seen some links to striker names, and Valentin Castellanos being the latest on their list. It remains to be seen whether the Argentine makes the move to England, where he will certainly get far better financial terms compared to Serie A. He could be on the move, although any transfer will depend on either West Ham or Everton agreeing to Lazio’s terms.
