Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United in six-way battle to sign Christopher Nkunku

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly among six clubs vying for the signature of disgruntled Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku this summer.

According to a report by The Sun, Christopher Nkunku will likely leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window. However, the disgruntled Chelsea attacker has no shortage of suitors vying for his signature, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United keen on signing him. In addition, West Ham United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Atletico Madrid are vying for the French international attacker’s signature.

Christopher Nkunku has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig in July 2023 in a move that generated hype and fanfare among the club’s fanbase. While the Frenchman arrived at the West London club with a burgeoning reputation, fitness issues have plagued him in the last two years.

However, the 27-year-old has not let his output reduce despite his fitness issues, contributing to 19 goals in only 2,039 minutes of game time across 42 appearances across all competitions. Nkunku has found the back of the net 14 times and provided five assists. However, his long-term future at Chelsea is uncertain, with the situation capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

The French international has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, considering the team’s over-dependence on Bukayo Saka in the final third. So, the disgruntled Chelsea attacker has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Christopher Nkunku makes sense. The Reds are combing the market for a productive attacker as they contemplate cashing in on Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez in the summer transfer window. So, the Chelsea forward is an option worth considering for Liverpool.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils were keen on signing the 27-year-old Frenchman in the winter transfer window before the deal failed to see the light of day. However, Nkunku is an ideal profile for Ruben Amorim’s system. So, Manchester United will return for the Chelsea attacker’s signature in the summer transfer window.
