Manchester United step up interest in Liam Delap

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap in the summer transfer window.

Liam Delap has done quite well for Ipswich Town, and he is on the radar of Chelsea as well. According to The Athletic, Manchester United have held face-to-face talks in to sign the English striker in teh summer transfer window.

The Englishman will cost £30 million, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United can secure an agreement to sign him. It is no secret that they need to sign a quality striker in the summer. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been quite underwhelming, and they need to be upgraded on in the summer. Manchester United need a reliable striker who can score goals consistently for them.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old striker will be tempted to join a big club in the summer as well. Delap is too good for the Championship, and he will not want to compete with Ipswich Town in the second division of English football. It makes sense for him to move on and join a big club in the summer. Manchester United could provide him with the platform he needs.

Regular football at Old Trafford could help him improve further and fulfil his tremendous potential. Although Manchester United have endured a disappointing season, they could still salvage their campaign by winning the UEFA Europa League tomorrow night.

If the Red Devils win the tournament, they will be able to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the next season as well. It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

Chelsea keen on Liam Delap

Chelsea need more depth in their offensive unit as well and have their sights set on LIam Delap. Nicolas Jackson has done reasonably well, but Chelsea need a better player if they want to win major trophies. Delap could prove to be an excellent long-term investment for them.

The English striker has all the attributes to develop into a reliable Premier League attacker. Both Manchester United and Chelsea have the financial resources to get the deal across the line, and the £30 million investment could look like a bargain in the long run.
