According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Bournemouth have made their stance on Antoine Semenyo’s future quite clear. The Cherries are willing to negotiate his departure amidst interest from Manchester United, but they will only let him leave on their terms. Andoni Iraola’s team want a massive fee of around £70 million to sanction his departure this summer.
Semenyo made a name for himself at Bristol City before making the move to Bournemouth at the start of 2023. The London-born winger has only gone from strength to strength since, and he has established himself as one of their mainstays.
The 25-year-old winger has been quite impressive throughout the 2024/25 season. Semenyo has been involved in a total of 40 matches, and he has contributed towards 18 goals (11 goals, 7 assists). While he prefers operating on the left flank, Iraola has deployed him in five different roles, and he has delivered effectively in each of them.
His consistent performances along with his versatility have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs. Manchester United are one of the clubs that are keen on signing him. The Red Devils are ready to permanently part ways with Jadon Sancho, Antony and Marcus Rashford. With all three of players leaving, they certainly need more quality on the flanks.
Ruben Amorim’s team see Antoine Semenyo as an ideal signing for their project. His ability to feature on either flank could come in handy. More importantly, he can even chip in as a wing-back when needed. While reports earlier suggested Bournemouth were looking for £50-60 million, the Cherries seem to have raised their asking price.
Dean Huijsen was the only player on their squad with a release clause. With the Spanish international joining Real Madrid, Bournemouth have taken a firm stance regarding the future of some of their top talents. While the Cherries are open to negotiating, they will only let them leave on their terms.
In the case of Semenyo, the Premier League outfit want a fee close to £70 million to consider selling him. While he could be a great addition to Manchester United’s squad, it looks unlikely that they would be willing to match the high asking price.
