According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Andrea Berta is going all out to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, a report by Caught Offside has claimed that Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on signing the Swedish international. However, the Gunners are the front-runners to secure his services in the coming months.
Viktor Gyokeres has transformed into a goal machine since joining Sporting CP from Coventry City in July 2023. The Swede was already a promising striker during his time in England. However, he has taken his career to a new level in the last two seasons, having also been exceptional this season.
The 26-year-old has contributed to 66 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 53 times and providing 13 assists. Meanwhile, Gyokeres has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe with his exploits for Sporting CP. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Arsenal will be eager to sign a productive striker in the summer transfer window, and they have their sights set on Gyokeres. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have not been prolific enough in the final third, compelling the North London club to scour the market for a striker. So, the Swedish international has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Viktor Gyokeres is understandable. While Nicolas Jackson has been top-notch for the West London club, Enzo Maresca wants an alternative to the Senegalese international. So, the Sporting CP striker is an option worth considering for Chelsea.
As for Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund has endured the infamous “second season syndrome” thus far in the 2024/25 campaign. That has forced the Red Devils to comb the market for a striker ahead of the summer. So, Gyokeres has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United. However, they are behind Chelsea in the race to sign the Swede.
Meanwhile, Sporting CP will demand around €65-70 million to part ways with Gyokeres. The price tag makes the productive 26-year-old Swedish striker an appealing target. However, with Andrea Berta going all out to sign the player, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal will beat Chelsea and Manchester United to his signature.
