According to Fichajes, Ruben Amorim will continue at Manchester United irrespective of the outcome of the upcoming UEFA Europa League final. The Red Devils are eager to continue with the Portuguese manager and are appreciative of the efforts put in by the former Sporting CP boss, with their transfer plans in the upcoming window probably reflective of their faith in him.
Ruben Amorim has not had it easy since taking over Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s manager. He has been in charge of 40 games for the club across all competitions, managing 16 wins and 16 defeats so far. In the Premier League, he has managed 26 games, losing 14 of those games, which has seen the club languish in 16th spot.
Incidentally, Manchester United have stayed unbeaten in the Europa League and managed to reach the final. They will face fellow English strugglers Tottenham Hotspur, who are one place below the Red Devils and languish in 17th on the Premier League standings, as the winner of that showdown in Bilbao will get a much debatable place in next season’s Champions League.
It is a prize worthy enough for either team, as both have dropped their guns in domestic games. As for Amorim, there have been mixed reports in the media, with some suggesting earlier that he regrets taking over at Manchester United.
There were names like Massimiliano Allegri linked as his replacement not so long ago, although Manchester United have complete faith in Amorim. The Portuguese manager is widely expected to stay, irrespective of what transpires in the Europa League Final.
Amorim has had a bad run of results, and those have certainly cast doubts among a section of the fan base to not want him managing the team. The upcoming Europa League final is seen as imperative for the club’s immediate success on the financial side of things. Not being in the Champions League will be a massive blow for Manchester United.
Beyond the financial aspects, the reason why they will not fire Amorim irrespective of what happens in that final is because this is a manager on course to stabilising things at the club. The Portuguese boss has brought in a definitive style of play as well as improvements, although the results are not reflecting that progress.
