Manchester United are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is one of the names on their wishlist. According to a report from Fichajes, the Red Devils have already submitted an offer of close to €65 million to sign the Cameroon international.
Mbeumo came up the ranks at Troyes and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before making the move to Brentford in the summer of 2019. He has gone from strength to strength over the years and has established himself as a key figure in the team.
While he has been a consistent performer for them in recent seasons, the 25-year-old seems to have taken his game to another level this season. He has featured in a total of 41 matches this season and has contributed towards 28 goals (19 goals, 9 assists).
The Bees have been quite impressive in the league this season and Mbeumo’s form has a lot to do with it. While the majority of his appearances have come on the right flank, he even chipped in as a striker when needed.
He will only have a year left on his deal in the summer, but Brentford hold an option to extend it by another 12 months, a clause that keeps them firmly in control of his future. That said, they’ll face a big decision in the summer, with multiple clubs expected to make a move for the 25-year-old.
The Bees could look to cash in on him and use the funds to revamp their squad. They already have a significant offer on the table, with Ruben Amorim’s United offering close to €65 million for Mbeumo. The Portuguese manager is desperately looking for more firepower in the final third.
While their priority is to sign a striker, they also need more quality on the flanks. With Antony and Jadon Sancho’s future uncertain, they do not have enough options on the right flank and Mbeumo could certainly be a great fit for his system as well as the club’s project.
The Red Devils view him as a strong option to bolster Amorim’s attack, but it remains to be seen whether they can win the race for his signature, especially with other top clubs likely to show interest in the in-form forward. However, United could have an edge, with reports suggesting the player prefers a move to Old Trafford.
