Manchester United offer €135 million to sign Xavi Simons

Manchester United have reportedly offered a sum of €135 million to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, with the Dutch playmaker likely to leave in the summer.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United could have made a sensational €135 million bid to lure in Xavi Simons in the summer. RB Leipzig are likely to accept a proposal in that range, and while the Dutchman is expected to leave the Bundesliga side, his actual asking price is thought to be significantly lower.

Xavi Simons had a clear plan in his mind when he chose to accept a permanent move to RB Leipzig back in January. He was on loan from PSG, and given the Parisians had some issues with loaning out more players, the German side took full advantage of the situation to propose a permanent transfer for the Dutchman.

Simons has had another good season with the German side, with a hand in 19 goals and assists. Incidentally, he only signed a deal until 2027, which was an indication of his future being away from the club as soon as the summer window opens.

As things stand, there are a few high-profile clubs interested in signing him including Liverpool, who could present with an offer. Others like Arsenal and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest, while Manchester United are also in the mix.

The report states, that Manchester United have seemingly made an offer worth around €135 million to lure Simons away from Leipzig. The Germans are bound to accept such a figure in reality, although these could be rumours as a similar story emerged a while ago.

Xavi Simons expected to leave RB Leipzig

With Leipzig failing to qualify for any of the European competitions next season, some of their key stars like Simons are expected to leave. A while ago, Fabrizio Romano suggested he could leave for around €75 million, which seems significantly lower than the claims made in the report regarding Manchester United’s €135 million offer.

Manchester United are looking for attacking reinforcements, although they may not have the financial power of old to make such a bid on one player. Should they win the Europa League Final and make the Champions League next season, there’s every chance for Simons to join them, although for the time being, they are far away from making any move for the 19 G/A Dutch playmaker.
