Jurgen Klopp agent shuts down AS Roma links

Jurgen Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has dismissed reports linking the former Liverpool boss with the AS Roma managerial role.

Jurgen Klopp, currently serving as the global sports director for the Red Bull group of clubs, has frequently been linked with a return to management. This time, reports have associated him with the AS Roma job, but his agent Marc Kosicke has shut down those reports.

Klopp, who started his senior managerial career with FSV Mainz 05, went on to have a lot of success with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. He had a seven-year stint with the Bundesliga giants before enjoying a nine-year-long successful stint at Anfield.

After years of hard work as a manager, he decided to take a break when he left the Reds last summer. He ended up taking up the role of a global sports director of all Red Bull group clubs at the start of the new year. While his contract there runs until the end of 2029, Klopp has often been linked with a return to management.

With Carlo Ancelotti leaving Real Madrid, the German manager was often linked with the job at Santiago Bernabeu. Reports suggest he was ready to make a comeback to lead the time in white. But now it seems Xabi Alonso is all set to take charge of the Spanish giants.

AS Roma won’t get their hands on Klopp

While Klopp is not heading to Madrid, reports in recent weeks have linked him with the AS Roma job. Claudio Ranieri, who came out of retirement to manage the Italian club will be parting ways with them at the end of the season.

Ranieri took charge of his former club towards the end of 2024 and has done wonders for them as they are now pushing for a Champions League spot. While Roma would have loved to have the Italian tactician for another year, it was already decided that he would guide them to the end of the season.

With Ranieri leaving soon, AS Roma have been looking for an ideal replacement, and former Liverpool boss Klopp has emerged as the best possible replacement. Multiple reports even suggested that he was ready to take the job at Stadio Olimpico. But his agent Marc Kosicke has made it quite clear that he won’t be joining the Serie A giants.

While speaking to , Klopp’s agent was asked about the truth behind the reports linking his client to Roma, he said:, “Klopp coaching Roma? This news is not true.”

The 57-year-old gave it his all while he led Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool to new heights and he has taken a well-deserved break from management. While he is still involved in football with the Red Bull group, it’s not as demanding a job. Klopp could certainly return to management in the future but for now, he is happy being a sports director.
