Newcastle United keen on Andrey Santos

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of Chelsea midfield sensation Andrey Santos.

According to a report from Fichajes, Newcastle United are looking to add more depth and quality to their midfield and they have their eyes set on Chelsea’s Andrey Santos, who has had an impressive loan spell in France.

Santos made quite a name for himself coming up the ranks at Vasco da Gama. His sensational rise had put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs but Chelsea managed to beat the competition to his signature when they struck a deal for him back in 2023.

Upon his arrival at the club in the summer, he was sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest. But that move didn’t go according to plan for him as he hardly had any opportunities and returned to his parent club at the start of 2024. Since then he has been on loan at sister club RC Strasbourg and has certainly made the most out of the chances he has had.

In the ongoing campaign, he has featured in a total of 34 matches for the French club and has been involved in 16 goals (11 goals, 5 assists). The 21-year-old central midfielder’s impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed as multiple top clubs want to sign him this summer.

No shortage of interest in Andrey Santos

PSG are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature. The French giants have kept a close eye on his performances and they believe he could perfectly fit in their rotation. He could add much-needed depth and freshness to their midfield. Having seen him succeed at Strasbourg, they are confident he could adjust to easily slot into their team.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are also interested in him and have been monitoring him for a while. With Rodrigo de Paul’s future at the club uncertain, they consider Andrey Santos an ideal replacement. Deigo Simeone believes he has a similar profile and could come in handy in both a defensive as well as an offensive role.

Newcastle ready to battle PSG and Atletico

While PSG and Atletico are pushing to sign him, Newcastle are willing to rival them for the signature of the 21-year-old. The Magpies have taken giant strides under Eddie Howe and they are looking for quality as they look to take the next step.

The Brazilian international could be an ideal cover for Bruno Guimaraes and he could form a dependable partnership with Sandro Tonali. He has a bright future and could do wonders for them in the long run.

With Newcastle likely to secure Champions League football, they will certainly have a demanding schedule and the youngster could give them much-needed depth. It will be interesting to see what stance Chelsea takes on his future, as they can look to integrate him into their first team or can even cash in on him with multiple top clubs pushing.
