Enzo Fernandez not planning to push for Chelsea exit amid Real Madrid links

Enzo Fernandez is not planning on forcing an exit from Chelsea, with Real Madrid handed a warning over pursuing the Argentine midfielder.

According to Give Me Sport, Enzo Fernandez does not plan on forcing an exit from Chelsea in the summer. There are links with Real Madrid ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with the Spanish giants reportedly being warned by the Blues over their pursuit of the Argentine World Cup winner.

Many felt a sense of cynicism when Chelsea smashed the British transfer record to land Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in the winter window of 2023. The move came right after the midfielder had won the World Cup with Argentina, as the Portuguese giants ensured they vastly benefited from any deal.

The Blues then went on to recruit Moises Caicedo in another £100 million-plus deal, while Romeo Lavia was also signed on big money. The idea back then was to bring in three established midfielders to secure the positions in the middle for the long-term future, as this season these players have grown a lot in stature.

There is the common notion that South American players are naturally drawn toward Real Madrid or Barcelona, and the former are very much interested in Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea have sent a hands-on warning to Real Madrid over pursuing Fernandez, who still has seven years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge.

Yet, there was the feeling that Real Madrid would make a move for a new midfielder, and now with Luka Modric announcing his departure, the need has become a necessity. Fernandez was watched by the Spanish giants alongside other Premier League players in a recent period, although any decision might come from the midfielder on what the future holds.

Enzo Fernandez not pushing to leave Chelsea

Fernandez has had his most productive season with Chelsea by contributing to 20 goals this term. The South American midfielder is growing in stature at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea uninterested in selling him or any of their other key midfielders like Caicedo.

Enzo Fernandez is not pushing to leave the club as things stand, but that may not necessarily mean he’s not keen on a switch to Real Madrid. Given his quality, the Spanish giants could still push for a move either in this window or next summer, as only time will tell whether the Chelsea star has a long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
