According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal have taken major steps towards signing Benjamin Sesko this summer. They have begun concrete negotiations with RB Leipzig as they look to seal a deal in the coming weeks.
Sesko made a name for himself at RB Salzburg before making the move to sister club Leipzig in the summer of 2023. He has only gone from strength to strength since moving to Germany. While the Slovenian international had a lot of interest last summer as well, he decided to continue at Leipzig.
However, that might not be the case this time around as multiple clubs are ready to prise him away. Sesko has had another impressive season as he has bagged 21 goals and six assists in his 45 outings across all competitions.
Arsenal have emerged as a potential destination for the 21-year-old striker. The Gunners have a long-standing interest in him and they have started making moves to bring him to the Emirates. While they have been looking at other targets as well, Sesko seems to be their priority option at this stage.
Mikel Arteta is keen on having more firepower in the final third. While they are working hard to sign a new left-winger as well, bringing in a world-class striker is their first priority. The Spanish manager is not happy with the output of his current forwards and signing someone like Sesko can certainly help their cause.
The Gunners have begun negotiations with Leipzig as they look to strike a deal in the coming weeks. They are actively working to finalise a deal with the German club and convince the young forward about moving to North London.
Marcel Schäfer and Andrea Berta are the key figures holding talks regarding the transfer. While Sesko still has four years left in his deal, there are high chances of him leaving this summer. A potential deal could cost Arsenal around €80 million, but that is unlikely to be an issue, as they are prepared to invest in a young striker who can make an impact both in the short as well as the long run.
