According to Foot Mercato, Rafael Leao is the latest target on Arsenal’s shortlist of left-wingers, as the Portuguese attacker is reportedly ready to leave AC Milan in the summer. Andrea Berta has already established contact with the winger, although he’s not yet seen as a priority target in the position.
Arsenal making plenty of movements in the transfer market, as they are repeatedly linked with some top-notch left-wingers around. The idea is to upgrade the position which has not been good enough during the season, as Mikel Arteta wants to add some prominent firepower to his attacking setup.
Arsenal are also chasing a new striker in the window, although from how they are moving in the market, a left-winger might be seen as a bigger priority. There are some names mentioned in media reports, with suggestions that the Gunners are leading the chase for Nico Williams.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is seen as a target, but the biggest link so far has been with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes. There are obvious challenges in luring the Brazilian with some recent stories stating Arsenal are balking at his wage demands, while they may also have to shell out a top fee for the winger.
The latest name on their list is that of Rafael Leao, with the Portuguese winger coming into the market at the back of an indifferent season. Yet, he managed to score or assist 25 times across all competitions, as Arsenal have been monitoring his situation for some time now, as they were recently linked with a move.
New sporting director, Andrea Berta has reportedly reached out to the 25 G/A attacker and has already spoken to him to signal their intent with the player. These are positive steps towards securing one of the top left-wingers in the continent, although Leao is probably not seen as a priority target over the other names on their list.
Leao could be a solid addition, as the Portuguese attacker adds a bit of x-factor certainly missing from this Arsenal side. He can certainly slot into Arteta’s system with ease, while the report also suggests his relationship with AC Milan could be broken and might lead towards the exit door.
