Manchester United planning formal bid to sign Hugo Ekitike

Manchester United will reportedly aim to beat Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool to 22-year-old French striker Hugo Ekitike in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Hugo Ekitike is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are combing the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are also keen on signing the Frenchman, but Manchester United are more advanced in their move.

Hugo Ekitike and his stabilising move

Hugo Ekitike has rediscovered his best touch since joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain 18 months ago. The French attacking prospect was one of the most promising young offensive prospects in his homeland when he broke onto the scene at Stade de Reims. However, the move to PSG did not work as well as he would have liked.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old was exceptional in the 2024/25 season, contributing to 34 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 22 times and providing 12 assists. Ekitike’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United vying for his signature.

A man in demand

Arsenal will dip into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window as they search for an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. So, Ekitike has emerged as a target for the North London club. As for Chelsea, the Blues have identified the Frenchman as their top target for the summer transfer window.

While Nicolas Jackson has been solid since arriving from Villarreal, Enzo Maresca wants more firepower in the final third. So, Hugo Ekitike is an option worth considering for Chelsea. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in the Eintracht Frankfurt striker is understandable, considering Darwin Nunez has blown hot and cold throughout his spell with the Merseyside outfit.

In addition, Diogo Jota’s fitness issues mean he is no longer a dependable player for Liverpool. As for Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have not been prolific enough in the final third this season. So, Ekitike has emerged as a viable target for the Premier League club. The Red Devils are ready to formalise their move for the 22-year-old Frenchman, and they are preparing a bid to sign him.

Eintracht Frankfurt will hold out for €80-90 million to part ways with Ekitike in the summer transfer window. However, the Premier League clubs will likely present initial bids of around €60 million to test the Bundesliga outfit’s resolve. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the French striker.
