According to Tuttomercatoweb via Fr.de, Aston Villa seek more quality in the final third of the pitch and they are interested in the services of Algerian international, Fares Chaibi. Unai Emery’s team have kept a close eye on him and are looking to sign him this summer. They have already taken concrete steps to bring him to Birmingham.
Chaibi came up the ranks at Toulouse and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023. While he did have an impressive start to life at the German club with 16 goal contributions in his debut campaign, things haven’t really gone according to plan for him post-that.
He hasn’t been consistent enough and it has affected his development as a player as his game time has taken a major hit this season. He has been on the pitch for just over 1,500 minutes and has only contributed towards five goals.
While his contract at Frankfurt runs until the summer of 2028, the current situation suggests he could be on the move in the near future. Aston Villa have emerged as a potential destination for the 22-year-old who prefers playing as a number ten but can pretty much feature anywhere in attack.
Unai Emery‘s team have been following him for a while now and they feel he has the talent to be a special player. Despite his recent struggles, they are willing to bet on the Algerian international.
While Frankfurt are still planning to keep him at the club, their financial situation is not ideal, and a decent offer for his signature could force them to consider parting ways with him.
Villa seem to be quite keen on signing the youngster and they have already taken concrete steps to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.
While Unai Emery’s team certainly have the finances to make it happen, they will have to convince the player, who could lose out on the opportunity of playing in the Champions League if he ends up joining Villa as they could only secure Europa League football for next season.
