Chelsea keen on sealing Jamie Gittens deal before Club World Cup, player wants move

Chelsea are pushing to secure the services of Borussia Dortmund sensation Jamie Gittens before the Club World Cup.

According to a report from the BILD, Chelsea want to have Jamie Gittens in their squad for the Club World Cup later this month. The Blues have been working on a potential transfer to sign the Borussia Dortmund sensation for some time and are now looking to wrap it up quickly.

Gittens was a part of the Manchester City youth setup before he made the move to Dortmund in the summer of 2020. He went up the ranks and got promoted to their first team back in 2022. The English winger has only gone from strength to strength over the last few seasons.

At just 20, he is already a key figure in the team and was involved in a total of 48 matches during the 2024/25 seasons. Gittens ended up contributing towards 17 goals in less than 2,800 minutes of first-team action.

His impressive rise has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe and he seems to be closing in on a move to Chelsea this summer. The Blues seek more quality on the flanks and the 20-year-old is an ideal fit for their project, which revolves around signing the best young players from across the globe.

Chelsea are pushing hard for Gittens’ signature

With Jadon Sancho returning to his parent club, Joao Felix likely to be sold and Mykhailo Mudryk serving a ban, Maresca needs more options on the flanks and Gittens in their priority target. They have been working on a potential transfer for some time and are believed to be within touching distance of his signature.

While it was earlier suggested Gittens has a €60 million release clause, the report has revealed that the fee is much higher. However, Dortmund are willing to negotiate a lower fee following the 20-year-old’s inconsistent performances in the second half of the season.

A fee of around €60 million could be more than enough to get a deal over the line and the Blues are looking to wrap up the deal in the coming days as they want to have him in their squad for the Club World Cup.

They do have a massive boost in their pursuit as Gittens wants to leave Dortmund and has already made it known to people at the club. As a result, there are high chances of this deal going through.
