Viktor Gyokeres keen on Manchester United move

Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their chances to sign Viktor Gyokeres, with the striker now keen on the move.

According to Ben Jacobs on The United Stand, Viktor Gyokeres is keen on a switch to Manchester United, which has given their chances a big boost. The Swedish striker is very much a prized asset in the market as several clubs including Arsenal are chasing his signature.

Viktor Gyokeres’ future is set to be decided one way or another this summer, as he seems destined to join one of the Premier League heavyweights. The Swedish striker has a €100 million release clause, although it is understood that Sporting Cp could accept bids in the region of €70 million for their prolific frontman.

Arsenal are seen as one of the front runners, due to their long-standing interest as well as the availability of Champions League football. The Gunners reportedly have a verbal agreement of sorts with the striker, that could potentially give them an upper hand should they decide to zero in on the Swede.

While they continue to deliberate between Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko for the No.9 role, there are chances of others swooping in for the Swede. Manchester United have been dreaming of signing Gyokeres because Ruben Amorim knows him well and they are looking for a new No.9 following their failure to land Liam Delap.

Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to explore a move for the 26-year-old goal machine, as Ben Jacobs has now revealed the striker might be open to making the switch to Old Trafford even without Champions League football. He was part of the stream on The United Stand, where he explained what the club may need to do for the signing of Gyokeres.

Jacobs said, “My understanding is that Viktor Gyokeres would be very keen on a move to Man United if they could pull that off, financially speaking.”

I don’t think Gyokeres would be on £300,000 a week or more. So if Rashford and Sancho go they’ve got wage bill space to invest in these players, so that’s why if they bite the bullet on the transfer and agent fees if they structure it in a way where they can start in the next financial year and get it on flexible instalments, it can be a way they can do that deal.”

Viktor Gyokeres deal complicated for Manchester United

As Jacobs explains, the wages might not be around the £300,000-a-week mark, although he would still demand a substantial salary to make the move either to Manchester United or Arsenal. The Red Devils may have some issues on board considering some of their highest earners Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony will return from their loans.

Until they can offload those unwanted stars, Manchester United may not be able to create room for a high-profile addition like the 26-year-old goal machine. Moreover, they will also hope to get the right money for those three stars, as a move for Gyokeres is likely to be funded with those sales.
