France international centre-back Clément Lenglet (29) is set to leave FC Barcelona to join La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid on a permanent basis, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian reporter understands that Barcelona and Lenglet have reached an agreement over a contract termination, paving the way for Lenglet to join Atlético Madrid.
The 29-year-old already spent the season on loan with Diego Simeone’s Colchoneros. The 16-capped France international is set to put pen to paper over a contract set to expire in 2028 as all parties are in agreement.
Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla FC for a €36 million transfer fee – the amount of his release clause – in 2018. The AS Nancy youth product featured 160 times for the Culers. In the last three seasons, he was allowed to leave on loan, first to Tottenham Hotspur, then Aston Villa and finally to Atlético Madrid.
